When I went back to work after my infant daughter died, I was ready for any flavor of comment, no matter how thoughtful or senseless. But I was not ready for silence.
This shocking lack of response exposed just how clumsy our society can be in addressing death and other losses.
My mission is to make vulnerability a little less awkward.
